Dealing with a bureaucracy where no one seems to be accountable is often
one of the most frustrating situations in life. It seems as though
attaining satisfaction in these cases is - if not
Impossible then, at least - highly improbable. In this article, you'll
learn how one person was able to pull this off without a hitch and how, using the basic
principles of Winning Without Intimidation, you can do the same. -----------------------
Question: "Would you provide an example of how writing
a Winning Without Intimidation-type letter can help to
persuade a person to take action on our behalf when they
usually wouldn't?" -----------------------
Pulling off The Improbable

"Hi Bob. I wanted to let you know about the success I had using
your method of writing a letter to motivate someone to help me.
"Four months ago I left an employer who is infamous for
stalling on their obligation to turn over 401k monies to
former employees. In the five years I had worked there I
never saw anyone get their money in less then a year.
"I decided to put aside my preconceived notions about how to
deal with a situation like this and try your method. I sent
the Controller a letter telling him how much I respected his
ability to get things done in such an overwhelming
environment.
"I also said that 'if he could not do this, I would definitely
understand.'
I included the fact that I knew that the company was legally required
to turn over 401k money in 90 days, and how I felt assured I would
never have to look 'in that direction.'
"Bob, this is no exaggeration. I sent that letter out registered
mail/return receipt on Monday. I received the forms to get my money that Friday.
The receipt didn't arrive until Saturday. Both were mailed the same day!
"Not only that, there was a stamped self addressed envelope included!
"This means I set a record. When I send these forms back I will have
Gotten my money in five months! Something I have not seen done at
this company! WOW! These forms are always the turning point
and I know it will be two weeks or less once I process them.
Thanks for the help. Of course I will now have to 'put the blinders on'
and try all of the methods you suggest."
Thanks for writing Steve. You pulled off what many would certainly
consider to be the improbable. I love success stories such as yours, and
appreciate your sharing with all of us. - Bob
