A Very, Very Important Question

A Very, Very Important Question - Bob Burg

    1. Cleaning out some files I came across one of the many quotes and sayings I’ve cut out and saved over the years.

It contains such wisdom that if we’ll only keep it in mind and ask ourselves this question on an ongoing basis we have an excellent chance of attaining that which we truly desire.

“Is what I am about to say or do consistent with my Life’s Mission?”

I don’t know who originally said or wrote that* but I think it is about as perfect a question as can be asked.

After all, if we were to frame everything we’re about to say and every decision we’re about to make in terms of congruency with that question, well…it’d pretty difficult not to meet with huge success.

Of course, we all make mistakes and even keeping that question at the highest part of our conscious awareness is certainly no guarantee of always doing the right thing.

But wow, it certainly ups the odds, doesn’t it?

So, what is your life’s mission? And, what might you do to get into the habit of asking yourself this very important question constantly and consistently?

    Bob,
What a great question! Thank you. I certainly need to stay focused on my mission as it does make a HuGE difference in what I get accomplished during the day. I will make a sign and post it by my computer where it will be the first thing I see before I power up. Focus our mission is vital…I believe. Love your blog, wisdom and insights. Your life impacts the multitudes…including my life. Thank you my Friend, Brenda

This is the same message as Simon Sinek’s Start With Why. It can’t be said enough. I just heard about it recently.

Hi everyone, hi Mr Burg. I’d say I love this message were my life’s mission known to me. I’m only seventeen, and still trying to know myself. How do you suggest I make the crucial decision of my life’s journey from here on?

  10. Bob Burg said at 8:29 pm on

Hi Tumane. Thank you for your question. Most impressive is that, at seventeen, you are concerned enough to ask such a question. The good news is that you don’t need to be worried that you do not yet know your life’s mission. At 17 you’re still in the discovery and experience phase of your life. Of course, you’ll hopefully always be in a discovery and experience phase but, as you get older, it will impact (and be impacted by) the life’s mission that you do know. In the meantime, keep exploring, stay interested, focus on self-growth and personal development, and on learning and internalizing the principles that will create a foundation of success. That foundation can then always be implied to your life’s mission. You might want to listen to some of the podcasts at http://www.thegogiver.com/podcast and learn from some of the amazing guests who’ve shared their life and business wisdom with us. Again, thank you for writing. I wish you great success and a life well-lived!
